Results & Reviews

Performance matters. So does the experience behind it. Here’s what athletes have achieved — and what they’ve said about training with Overdrive Endurance.

Overdrive Endurance is built around structure, accountability and smarter training. The results speak for themselves — but the real value is in the process behind them.

RP-009 - Mark

"Before working with Simon I thought my fitness was pretty good. I’d completed the Isle of Wight Ultra three times, Ironman Wales and a number of marathons — not bad really! But I was always on the edge of injury and spent years managing a constant stream of niggles. I knew that if I wanted more than just finishing another Ironman — if I wanted to go sub-12 hours — something had to change.

I didn’t so much choose Simon as the world just seemed to put us together. He was a friend of a friend and our paths collided at exactly the right time.

We hit it off straight away. I loved his enthusiasm and his honesty. One of the first things he said to me was “when we get you fit…” — a classic Simon line — and from that moment I knew he believed in my potential even more than I did.

The early months were a real learning curve. For me it was about getting used to proper structure, and for Simon it was about gradually learning what makes me tick. Communication has always been key. Being honest about time pressures, fatigue and what’s actually achievable means he can constantly adjust the plan to get the most out of every minute available. If life gets busy, the training adapts — but the progress never stops.

I’m sure Simon must get sick of my questions — should I do this, should I do that, what does this mean? — but over the years I’ve learnt to trust him more and more. He knows when to push and, more importantly, when not to.

The results have honestly been beyond anything I ever imagined. Simon has taken me from a 14-hour-plus Ironman in 2019 to back-to-back sub-10 hour Ironmans in 2024 and 2025. I’ve represented the GB Age-Group team at the European Long Distance Championships, finishing top 10 both times and as first GB athlete. I still sometimes think — what?! Me doing that?!

What’s even more impressive is that alongside the triathlon focus, Simon has supported my love of ultra running in the off-season (because why not!). Being able to train hard for long-distance triathlon and still take on big ultra challenges has built huge resilience and confidence in my durability as an athlete.

But the biggest change hasn’t just been performance — it’s mindset. I now have huge confidence in my ability to train my way back to fitness. I’ve learnt patience. I don’t chase hero sessions every week anymore. Instead, it’s about consistently turning up, doing the work, and earning the right to push hard at the right time. Months of small sessions building on each other — that’s where the magic happens.

I still absolutely love training. I still get excited waiting for Sunday to see what the next week holds. It feels like a genuine partnership.

Simon will always tell you what he thinks. He’ll show you what you’re capable of. He’ll work with your life, not against it, and get you to the start line as the best version of yourself.

If you want to improve — whatever your current level — get a coach. And if you want to get the absolute best out of the time you have each week, work with Simon."

‘Simon has completely changed the way I train and approach training for the better. He has brought real structure and focus to areas where I was previously ‘winging it’ and this has had a profound impact on my overall fitness, competitive performance and resilience to injuries.

Simon has also provided much needed support on the mental aspects of training for difficult goals and is always on hand to help when the inevitable crisis of confidence comes around, particularly in the lead up to big events’

'I’m 45 and started running in my late 30s. But the truly “runderful” parts of my running journey only really began when Simon started coaching me 4 years ago. He understands my life timetable so my training fits around me, my family life, work…If things change so does the plan, it’s not a problem. His coaching has introduced me to proper speed work, strength training and the value of rest days ( things I had never really embraced before having a coach). Sometimes I can look at a session on the plan and think “yeah there’s no way I can do that.” Yet somehow I always do. That’s because he knows exactly where you are and what you’re capable of, often before you believe it yourself.

When I first started being coached, I thought my goal was simply to get faster. What it’s actually become is something better. It’s become about building habits and consistency and learning to understand what I’m capable of at different stages. Whether that’s dealing with injury or “running self doubt” Simon has helped me realise that it’s okay to adjust, reset and keep showing up.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Simon’s coaching to anyone, at any age or ability. My biggest running highlights have happened because of his reassurance, encouragement and guidance. So if you want someone who believes in you and supports you every step of the way, you won’t find better than Si'.
